Introducing Project Forward, a series of initiatives that will bring our Forest Preserve Golf courses and driving ranges into the future. We are rejuvenating cherished places for today and tomorrow, looking forward in order to grow new memories for future generations! This page is your source for updates on all the projects going on!

George W. Dunne National Bunker Renovation
Since opening in 1982, one of the legendary hallmarks of George Dunne Golf Course is its 150,000 square feet of bunkers. We have undertaken a total renovation of the course’s entire bunker complex – from reshaping and reducing bunkers, to installing new drainage and lining foundations that will last for many, many years – this goes well beyond adding sand!
Joe Louis “The Champ” Bunker Renovation
Named for famed heavyweight boxing champion – and national hero – Joe Louis Barrow, “The Champ” will be going through some intense training in 2026. Since opening in 1928, “The Champ” has seen tons of history, and now it’s time to get the course and its 70,000 square feet of bunkers ready for the future. New drainage, new lining and, of course, new, plentiful sand.

Nature Putt @ Harry Semrow Driving Range
An area-favorite for decades, Harry Semrow Driving Range and Mini Golf got an upgrade in late 2025. We’re pleased to introduce Nature Putt! With a total refresh, new hazard and immersive native plantscapes, Nature Putt offers a fun – and peaceful – putt-putt adventure for everyone, young and old!
